In an ensemble setting students will learn the basics of improvisation. All students, regardless of instrument, will have the opportunity to experience the roles of leading the ensemble as a soloist and supporting their peers as accompanists. Improvisation draws upon and strengthens many musical skills learned in music theory, ear training, and ensemble performance classes, but above all, improvisation encourages creativity in students in a unique way not experienced in other musical settings.
