Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that blends songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and its emotional elements such as humor, love, passion are communicated through words, music, movement, choreographies as a combined whole. Although musical theatre overlaps with other theatrical forms like opera and dance, it may be recognized by the same attention given to the music compared with the dialogue, movement, and other elements. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage productions have usually been called musicals.
